Coromandel Express Derails: Big train accident in Odisha

A major train accident took place in Balasore, Odisha on Friday evening.  Several carriages of the Coromandel Express derailed after the collision with the freight train.  Several passengers were reportedly injured in the accident.  Although passengers.  Relief and rescue work is underway at the scene.  The incident took place at around 6.30 pm.  The train runs between Chennai Central and Howrah in West Bengal.  The train left Shalimar station at around 3.15 pm.  But it derailed after colliding with a freight train near Bahanaga station in Balasore, Odisha.

 Teams have left for the spot for search and rescue operations.The Collector of Balasore also reached the spot to make all necessary arrangements and any additional help from the state level, said a statement on behalf of the Office of the Special Relief Commissioner  The SRC is directed to be notified if required.  The train was reportedly packed with passengers.  Several passengers are believed to be trapped after the accident.  The Railways has also issued an emergency number on the train accident, which is 6782262286.
