Naxal Attack in Chhattisgarh: At least 11 people, including 10 soldiers and a driver, were killed in a Naxal attack in Dantewada in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. The 10 personnel were from the District Reserve Guard (DRG). A driver was also killed. Clashes between security forces and militants continue in Aranpur after the attack. The soldiers were returning from a patrol when the vehicle was blown up by the Naxals with an IED. After the incident, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said the culprits would not be spared. Our fight against the Naxalites is in its final stages. Naxalism will be eradicated in a planned manner.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel tweeted on the incident, "News of 10 DRG personnel and a driver killed in IED blast on DRG force arriving for anti-Naxal operation on information of presence of Maoist cadre under Thana Aranpur area of Dantewada It's extremely sad. We all the people of the state pay our respects to him. We all share in the grief of their families. May God rest his soul. Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to CM Bhupesh Baghel on the phone after the incident. He has assured the state of all possible help from the Centre.
On the other hand, former Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh attacked Baghel. "Whenever there is an attack, Baghel says the same thing but he has not taken any concrete steps so far," he said. "This problem will continue unless operations are conducted in coordination with the states," Singh said.
