Retired Chief Engineer of Assam PWD Asom Kumar Das Passes Away.  Asom Kumar Das (86), a resident of Mirza-Babupara under the Palashbari LAC died of a massive cardiac attack at his home on Tuesday evening. Asom Kumar Das was the first student from South Kamrup to study at Assam Engineering College. He was the son of the late Profulla Chandra Das and Usharani Das of Palashbari. He served in various positions in the department during his tenure. His death was mourned by various organizations and individuals. They expressed their condolences to the bereaved family. He is survived by his wife Minati Das, sons Utpal Das (Raja), Daughters Mouchumi Das, Mayuri Das and Aparajita Das, along with grandchildren and relatives. His death cast a shadow of grief over the entire South Kamrup region as well as Mirza area. His last rites will be held on Thursday morning at Mirza.
