Documentary, The Elephant Whisperers earned India another Oscar nomination for the year. The feature was nominated in the Best Documentary Short category. The film is 41 minutes long and premiered on December 8, 2022 on Netflix.
The Elephant Whisperers is a short documentary film about a couple who are given an orphaned elephant, Raghu, to care for. As per the available synopsis, the story weaves a beautiful tale of unconditional love and bonding between Jodi and Raghu after Raghu recovers and survives.
Earlier, in December, when the short list was announced, producer Gunit Monga had spoken to reporters saying, being in the esteemed company of such diverse projects among the top 15 films shortlisted in the upcoming Oscars 2023 is one It's a matter of respect. The Elephant Whisperers, the story of elephants in southern India and indigenous communities coexisting in the same place, has been nominated at the 95th Academy Awards for Best Documentary Short Film.
