National Desk:
The arrest of aerospace scientist Nambi Narayanan in the infamous ISRO espionage case of 1994 was illegal because the basis for leaking scientific information was fabricated. The CBI told this to the Kerala High Court on Friday. Narayanan was a principal liquid propellant engine scientist at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The CBI also told that he was implicated in a false espionage case.
Let us tell you that on the orders of the Supreme Court, the pre-arrest bail petitions of the people who were being investigated by the CBI have been heard afresh. The CBI told the court that the case diary would be released on Tuesday to support its theory that there was a suspected international conspiracy to implicate Nambi in the espionage case. According to the CBI, custodial interrogation of the accused is necessary and therefore they should not be granted anticipatory bail.
It is noteworthy that Narayanan was implicated in an espionage case. In which it was said that he had sold cryogenic engine technology to Pakistan through a citizen of Maldives. He was acquitted by the CBI court and the Supreme Court in 1998. However, during this he spent 50 days in jail along with associate scientist D. Sasikumar and four others.
