The government of Iran has sentenced to death the country's former Defense Minister Ali Reza Akbari on Wednesday (January 11). He has been sentenced on charges of spying for Britain. He has dual citizenship of Britain and Iran. He was holding a big position in Iran before going to Britain.
He was arrested in 2019 after returning from Britain on charges of spying for M16 and the UK Foreign Ministry. He was accused of sharing Iran's intelligence to Britain. The government of Iran gave this information on Wednesday (January 11).

Ali Reza has been accused of sharing secret information with the help of Ali Shamkhani, a top official of Iran's National Security Council. He is accused of violating the Islamic code and transferring information abroad. Due to this, there was a threat to the security of the country.
