In a significant step towards preserving India's rich textile heritage, the Office of the Comptroller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM) has awarded Geographical Indication (GI) certificates to the traditional artisans of 'Kutch Ajark' from the Kutch region in Gujarat   The GI tag, a symbol of authenticity and origin, provides legal protection to products, services or art originating from specific geographical areas.  For the artisans of Kutch Ajark, this certification not only validates their craft skills but also protects their traditional knowledge and techniques from exploitation or misuse.
