Senior Indian Police Service officer Anurag Kumar was appointed as the joint director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday, the Personnel Ministry said in an order.
 It said Kumar, a 2004 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, is currently working in the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).
 The Cabinet Appointments Committee has approved his appointment as Joint Director (JD) of the CBI and his tenure will expire till February 24, 2027, it said.
