Onam is one of the major festivals celebrated in South India. The special thing is that this special festival lasts for 10 days, not one or two. According to religious beliefs, the festival is celebrated in honor of the brave king Bali. People worship Lord Vishnu and Lord Mahabali on this day. Some people also celebrate the festival to wish for a good harvest in the fields. Onam is also called Thiruvonam in Malayalam.
The Onam festival starts on September 6 and will end on September 15, 2024, the last day of the festival. The auspicious time for the puja on September 15 will be from 11.51 am to 12.41 pm.
